After being held up in the application process that is Apple we are finally REALLY happy to announce the instant availability of PETITE ASSISTANTE in the App store in iTunes and on your iPhone or iPod touch.

The video above shows you some basic functionality of the app running & how to use it just to wet your appetite. As we’ve said before this is no ordingary French dictionary, this is going to be an epic renovation and building dictionary of super super handy proportions.. No more worrying if you know exactly what a word says just look it up in seconds.

The great news is that we are constantly updating the word lists and we’ve already send an update to Apple correcting a (rather embarrassing) spelling mistake and we’ve added 1500 more words. As promised these updates are always going to be FREE, so don’t wait around CLICK HERE and go the App Store today & get the WORLDS 1ST French Renovation iPhone/iPod Touch App brought to you by us here at www.Montpillard.com

So here’s the skinny :
iTunes Link : Petite Assistante
Cost : Launch price £1.19 NOW FREE (see post for why)

Right now we can’t give any away as a launch special as Apple only allow this via the US store so we’ve dropped the price by 1/3rd for a week. Lets hope they fix that soon so we can do a small giveaway.

With the builders coming round to quote for the repairs to the outside of the house it’s time to start removing one of the old building so they can get access to the wall, we could of course leave them to do this but it’ll be two days work at €250 per day so I thought I’d do it.

Now we already know that a lot of the old mortar here has aged very badly and part of the renovation is to re-mortar and point everything to strengthen the house and give it a nicer finish but little did I know just how bad some places were. The above video shows just how easy the stones come apart from each other as the lime mortar is now just powder.

Don’t worry these stunning stones aren’t going to waste, we be rebuilding the outbuilding using new materials & bonding however the stones are going to be placed on the outside of the new structure so it keeps the original look.

As many readers will know by know I’m struggling getting my head around the cost of solar power and it’s benefits and pay back mainly because for every plus there is a minus and it just seems like in some sort of research hamster wheel and I need to get off.

As many readers will know by know I’m struggling getting my head around the cost of solar power and it’s benefits and pay back mainly because for every plus there is a minus and it just seems like in some sort of research hamster wheel and I need to get off. So today on TreeHugger.com I spotted a little bit of welcome relief that actually floats my boat and has me mildly excited.

The Windspire is a new type of wind turbine from Mariah Power.

Firstly you’ll notice it’s a vertical turbine, requiring a lot less space in the rear garden, secondly the projected cost. Currently for the 1kW version you’re looking at around $6,000USD and for the 3kW unit you’re looking at around $10,000USD and this is tipped at producing enough energy to power your home.

The Mariah Power website is a little light on content and it does appear the style of the website falls over a lot but that could be down to the load it’s under after popping up on every green blog on the web. I’ll be keeping and eye on this as I must say I do like the idea of wind more than solar as it generates power 24hrs a day ( potentially ). Until there is more information out there here are a few bits to keep you going :

Company Name : Mariah Power
Web Address : http://www.mariahpower.com/
PDF Brochure : Link

I’m on the contact list for this so when more european wide information becomes available i’ll post it here. My only concern is that $10,000USD for the 3kW unit becomes €10,000 or even £10,000 and that puts it straight back into the problem bracket with solar.

Fingers crossed….
