So David @ Midwest Render again working his magic bringing our changes, dreams and desires to life.

In this latest render we are now 95% complete to these being final “go live” plans, we need to make some small changes as one of the renders doesn’t show the chimney (small oversight) and the 2nd one misses off the new solar water collectors we are installing, however we were so happy we wanted to share with you these latest plans and give you an idea of how different they are to the current look.

Front

The front for us is perfect! Dave has suggested using two different sized front windows in the kitchen area and then the lounge and it really works for us. The larger windows in the kitchen will let in a lot a natural light while the smaller windows in the lounge area compliment the large front facing French doors. The two insert roof windows you see above the front door are for the ensuite bathroom, while the two new dormer windows that are added are for the two new bedrooms we are creating. The addition of the new side entrance and the porch we just love.

Rear

The rear is the only section that we are still between ourselves debating. Basically the rear of the building is spot on, with one noticable change. The 6 windows in the main room will stay but they now need to be mirrored by the 3 to the left over the up stairs hall way. Not all 6 of these however will be windows, the top 3 of the new set of 6 will be solar water heater collectors, as supplied by Velux (they look the same as their windows).

The long kitchen window and the thin long bedroom window (when enables us to see the fields from in bed) will be the sticking point with the planners due to the crazy requirement that windows be taller than they are longer, but we are hoping that as we overlook our fields and this is private we can persuade them to push this through.

The final points of discussion are the porch and the window under the porch. Dawn would like a full sized porch for eating under and i’d like it half the size so as to not block the light into the bog new rear slide opening doors. I can see Dawn’s point 100% and i think i may submit on this one, but the window i’m not sure about as this is where the TV will be going and i’m not sure it would be wise to place a window here only to keep the shutters closed to create a dark area. You thoughts ?

So this is where we are right now. You can see the changes are quite drastic but we’ve been very careful to keep them in tune with the area, and the changes we are making will improve the livability of the house and change it’s environmental impact massively, from the addition of solar collectors, to insulation to the rain water harvetsing scheme that will be in place.

As i said we are 95% there and Dave is doing a fantastic job and he must have the patience of a saint with allt he little changes we keep making.

Can we do anything different / better in your opinion? Let us know as all the feedback and idea’s we love to hear them.
